CayWriters hosted it’s very first book fair in October 2013 for authors in Cayman known as the Home Grown Book Fair. The event’s name was recently changed to the Cayman Islands Book Fair.
This year’s book fair will take place on the 5th and 6th of December 2014 at the Cayman Islands George Town Library, who’ve generously donated their facilities, the staff’s time, and much more to accommodate the event.
The feedback from the first book fair was wonderful and I’m excited about what offered at this year’s event. The features include:
- Guest Speakers
- Writing Workshops and presentations
- Author Readings and Book Signings
- Books and merchandise for sale by local authors
- Prize giveaways
- Kid activities
- Q&A with published authors
I anticipate this annual event growing with island-wide and international recognition, impacting Cayman’s schools, businesses, and the community in the years to come. I’m excited about what the future holds for CayWriters, the Cayman Islands Book Fair, and local writers.
Please follow our Facebook page for details about registration, sponsorship and donation opportunities, the event schedule and more until our website is live.
Elke, this is so exciting!
And I think the name change is a great idea for building brand recognition. My gosh, best wishes to you, you busy lady! Your cup runneth over. I hope you’re enjoying every (stressful) moment of your wonderfully busy writer’s life!
Cheers my friend! Cheers!
Julie
