2014 is here! Are you ready? In another post I blogged about goals and remembering the ones you accomplish but didn’t schedule. Today I’m talking about tips for getting through the new year.
Goal setting is easy, but staying motivated is difficult once that new year high has worn off and it’s time for the hard work. Also, the craziness of everyday life can take the wind out of your sails and you either loose initiative or get discouraged. Here are 3 tips for getting through 2014.
STAY POSITIVE
Negativity is all around us from people, the news, and even online. It sucks your creativity dry and sometimes your motivation to succeed. CUT IT OUT. Limit or eliminate negative things, and follow positive and encouraging people. You’ll notice the difference!
REGROUP
It’s the end of January and you haven’t started on your goals. Don’t panic and get discourage, or worse, give up. Take a step back. Look at where things went wrong and attack with vigor. The best part? You can do this as many times as you need to. Life happens. Give yourself a break.
KEEP GOING
It’s March and you’re miles behind and that sinking feeling of dread and defeat sets in. What can you do? Keep going! It’s better to try to get somewhere, if even it’s not where you’d like to be, than give up and get no where.
I love hearing from you.
Staying positive can be a challenge. I try to think of all that’s going great in my life and what steps I could take take to change what i don’t like. Although this is not always easy. Your idea of keep going is great because if we give up then we really fail. And if we keep going we may not land where we wanted to land but in a more exciting place. I think it’s important to have trust in ourselves and to do the work even though we’re not always motivated. Motivation comes often in the doing.
Hi Carol,
Happy New Year! Love what you said about taking steps to change what you don’t like and landing in a more exciting place than you planned. That happened to me in 2013. I agree about motivation coming in the doing. Making progress on something that we’re passionate about is a great way to keep doing it. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by. All the best for 2014. I know you’ll do great things!
