When I was a little girl I remember wanting to be two things more than anything: a romance writer and the first Caymanian in space. I was blessed to become the first one, but I haven’t given up my dream of going in space.
Over the years people thought I was crazy to want to be a romance writer. Flash forward to 2012 and booya! Look who’s a romance writer. Now it’s on to crazy dream number two.
I was thrilled when Virgin Airlines announced their plans of trips to space. The day I found out about the trips to space, I decided my 50th birthday gift to myself would be a plane ride to space. I’m celebrating my 41st birthday in a couple of week, so that gives me 9 years. Enough time for them to figure out how to make it work, and for me to afford the trip.
It’s not exactly how I planned: doing a space walk, getting an unobstructed view of Earth and the moon, and a trip on the spaceship USS Enterprise, but I’ll take it. Okay, I threw in that last one to make sure you were paying attention. π
The moral of this blog post? Don’t let anyone talk you out of your dreams not matter how crazy they are.
Well, Elke, you have proven yourself to be an amazing Romance Author so I look for you in space my dear! And yes, I am still working on my dream and have just packed my bags and stepping on that ride to take me where I want to go!
Great Post, as always.
Lorraine
Thanks, Lorraine!
You have a great passion for writing, so I’ll know you’ll reach your dreams.
All the best.
Hi Elke,
Don’t have a ‘crazy’ dream. I’m far to practical for that – LOL!
My dreams certainly aren’t nearly as exciting, but they’re dreams nonetheless. I won’t bore you with the details but having dreams is important and striving to reach those dreams is what life is all about.
You have a dream, certainly an exciting one and I wish you all the best in reaching for the stars, literally! π
Blessings,
Liz
Thanks, Liz!
Wonderful words of wisdom. Practical people keep the rest of us in line. π
All the best.
Hi ElkeFeuer,
I completely agree with you on the thoughts of running behind our Dreams. What if we don’t achieve it, at least, we would have put in the best of our efforts. After all, life is not a destination but a complete journey in itself.
Isn’t our Dreams make our life more interesting and enthusiastic. Well, life without dreams would become so dead and boring for all of us. I have my own Dreams, my own aspirations, just like everyone else and I believe that it is the fuel behind the life of my Life.
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful thought provoking post.
Welcome, Ashutosh!
You hit the nail on the head. Dreams are vital to adding light, hope, and fire to our lives. Without them we’d go through life unfulfilled and empty.
Thanks so much for your comment and for stopping by. Have a great weekend!
