It happens every year, but somehow it still manages to sneak up on us, or it is just me? Like birthday presents, it’s difficult to come up with something unique and original (and not too expensive) every year that shows our love and appreciation for all our mothers do (or have done) for us. This year I’m taking my mother to the RITZ for mother/daughter massages. It’s a little expensive, but hey, she’s worth it!

Some of you maybe think, I can’t afford that. So here are gift ideas you don’t have to take out a second mortgage for or get a loan to pay off.

Brunch

I know what you’re thinking. Expensive! It doesn’t have to be. A lot of restaurants will offer specials, so keep an eye out for one fits your budget.

Hobbie Related

Does your mother like to knit, sew or garden? Perfect. You’re sure to find something she’d like and once again looks for specials if you’re on a budget.

Charm bracelets

If your mother likes jewelry (what woman doesn’t) then these are a great choice and best of all charms are future no-brainer gifts for birthdays, and Christmas.

Health and Beauty

Unless she got a stash hidden in the back of her bathroom cabinet, (like dads with ties), they’re a great idea.

Pet friendly

Cut toys, accessories, and outfits (if that’s how she rolls) is another idea she’s sure to love if her pet is her best bud.

Kid Photos

This is my out and last-minute gift idea. You can’t go wrong with cute photos of the grandkids (or the family) in an equally adorable frame she can show off to friends when they visit.

And last, but certainly not least,

Books If dear mom loves to read, what better way to treat her than a book or gift certificate for her to purchase the book(s) she wants. In honor of mother’s day, tell me what you love most about your mother for a chance to win a ecopy of my debut novel, For the Love of Jazz. I’m looking for sweet, heartwarming, and all out gut spilling, so don’t hold back. 🙂

What gifts have you given mom that she loved?
