They’re out there. Sexy, sweet guys with a wonderful sense of humor, but with all that they’re still heartbreakers. Why is that?

We sometimes fool ourselves into thinking that because we write these characters that they’ll behave and not hurt our heroines, but so many times we’re wrong. We know they are imperfect and we wouldn’t have it any other way, but they have a way of challenging and surprising us with the things they do and say that have us scratching our head and wondering why. I think we forget they’re men and like men in our own lives who can be a mystery, they do things that don’t make sense or infuriate us.

Thankfully, they redeem themselves in our eyes just like the men in our live do. They start out as heartbreakers but then mend our hearts in surprising and delightful ways.

This holds true with the hero in my debut novel. He’s known as a playboy and lives up to that reputation with his good looks and charm, but deep down he’s a romantic. In a lot of ways, my h/h are alike. Experience has taught them to keep their hearts locked away, but as they get to know each other they discover that love is worth the risk. Find out more.

So, what do you look for in a hero? Hot redeemable heartbreaker or sensitive beta male?
